Sotheby's Geneva Magnificent Jewelry and Noble Jewelry Auction sold an extremely rare Russian purple-pink diamond at a high price of US$26.6 million on the 11th.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported that this 14.8 carat diamond is named Rose Rhyme. The size and color of the rosette and its flawless internal structure attract buyers to shout high prices.
Pink Flower Rhyme is one of the three gems collected by the Russian mining company Alrosa, all three gems are named after the famous Russian ballet.
This pink diamond is cut from a rough stone found in Russia in 2017. The rough stone is named Nijinsky to commemorate Russian-Polish ballet dancers.
The current highest auction record for pink diamonds is held by The Pink Star, which was sold in 2017. This 59-carat diamond was sold at Sotheby’s auction for $71 million.
